INSURANCE Benefits
Certification
Hotshot is pioneering innovation by collaborating with the WUI, Underwriters Laboratories, and investors to become the first insurance-certified wildfire suppression system.
Endorsement
Hotshot is a member of California’s Local and State Urban Wildfire Working Group, collaborating on the new insurance certification program. We will keep you updated on states that pass similar laws. Additionally, Hotshot is proud to be a member of the Society of Fire Protection Engineers.

Certificate of System Installation
Hotshot will issue a certificate of system installation and completion upon receiving your video submission. Record a short video of a system test showing all off-grid components and water coverage. Upload it to send it to Jim at [email protected] to obtain your certificate. We recommend using a drone for optimal footage. Please close all doors and windows, as you would during a wildfire. Drone footage offers the local fire department and your insurance company a clear view of your system, potentially lowering your insurance rates. Note: If your neighbors install similar systems, your community may be designated as ‘protected,’ leading to greater benefits.
To qualify for the certificate, record a video showing a full system test, including all off-grid components and water coverage. Close all windows and doors, as you would during a wildfire, and use a drone to capture optimal footage of your setup.
Upload your completed video to hotshotfps.com. Ensure the footage clearly shows the system in action, as this helps expedite the certification process and may improve your insurance rates.
Once your system test is approved, you will receive an official Certificate of Completion from Hotshot, like the one shown here. This certificate verifies your system’s installation and compliance with fire safety standards, recognized by both local fire departments and insurance agencies.
After submitting your video, Hotshot will review your footage within 7-10 business days. Once approved, your Certificate of Completion will be issued and emailed to you.

California’s 2022 regulations provide financial incentives for homeowners who take proactive steps in fire prevention. Hotshot’s automated suppression systems qualify for these benefits, helping you lower your insurance rates.
Upon system certification, insurers recognize your home as “hardened” against fire, which can result in significant premium reductions.
When multiple homes in a neighborhood adopt similar systems, your community could be deemed “protected,” leading to even greater collective insurance savings.
Not all brokers are aware of the new laws. Hotshot provides a list of brokers who specialize in navigating these regulations, ensuring you receive the best possible benefits.
Fire Fighter Seal of Approval
Hotshot’s fire protection system has received praise from experienced firefighters, including Captain Robert Sales of the LA County Fire Department. After witnessing the system’s success during the Woolsey fires, Captain Sales highlighted its ability to protect homes in extreme conditions, even when other structures were deemed indefensible. Hotshot is a leading solution in wildfire defense, especially in areas prone to high fire risk.
With over 28 years of experience, Captain Sales has seen firsthand the impact of Hotshot’s system during major wildfires, emphasizing its effectiveness in saving homes that would otherwise be lost.
The system demonstrated exceptional performance during the Woolsey fires, protecting properties even under harsh conditions where other homes were deemed unprotectable due to lack of resources.
Captain Sales believes that this system will become an industry standard, revolutionizing how homes in high-risk wildfire areas are protected and reducing property and life loss.
The standalone, off-grid nature of the system allows it to function independently of power outages, ensuring continuous protection even in the most severe wildfire scenarios.
